8 Effective Hair Masks to Treat Hair Loss At Home

1. Coconut and Olive Oil Mask:

  • Two tablespoons of coconut oil
  • One tablespoon of olive oil
  • Mix both the oils in a small bowl
  • Apply the oil mixture from the roots to the tips, massaging the scalp gently
  • An hour after application, rinse off with water and asulfate free shampoo

2. Egg Yolk and Green Tea Mask:


Rich in protein, eggs help strengthen the hair follicles.   • One tablespoon of honey
  • One tablespoon of dark rum
  • One yolk of an egg
  • One teaspoon of castor oil
  • One capsule each of Vitamin A and E, available at your local pharmacy.
  • Mix all the ingredients together in a bowl. Remember to crush the capsules and add the vitamins into the bowl and mix well
  • Apply the mask evenly onto your scalp, roots, length and tips of your hair
  • Wrap your hair in a cloth or a towel
  • An hour after application, rinse off with water and a mild shampoo, preferably baby shampoo

4. Avocado Hair Mask:


This hair mask works best for hair that is rough and dry. It works from deep within to prevent hair fall and smoothen out dry hair.

  • One ripe avocado, mashed
  • One tablespoon of honey
  • Two tablespoons of olive oil
  • Mix all the ingredients together in a bowl till a mask of creamy texture is formed
  • Apply it evenly onto the length of your hair
  • Twenty minutes after application, rinse off with water and a mild shampoo

5. Yoghurt, Mayonnaise and Egg Mask:

  • One fourth cup of plain yoghurt
  • One egg
  • One fourth cup of mayonnaise
  • Whip the egg till it peaks
  • To the whipped egg, add yoghurt and mayonnaise; mix well
  • Evenly apply the mask onto the scalp and wrap your hair in a shower cap
  • Leave the mask on for about an hour
  • Rinse with a mild shampoo and cold water

6. Potato Hair Mask:



Lack of Vitamin A, B and C is one of the major reasons for dull, dry and brittle (easily breakable) hair. Vitamin A, B and C are very essential for hair growth and its health. So provide these vitamins to your hair for their growth, thickness and health. Potato is one of the rich foods in Vitamins C, B6 and fiber.

  • One large potato (Iris or sweet potato)
  • Two tablespoons of pure aloe vera gel
  • Two tablespoons of honey
  • Peel the potato, grate it and extract its juice
  • Mix the potato juice with the other ingredients
  • Even apply the mask to the lengths of your hair and wrap your hair in a shower cap
  • Two hours after application of the mask, rinse off with lukewarm water

7. Coffee and Egg Yolk Mask:


Coffee softens and adds shine to hair. The best way to use coffee for your hair by using it as a hair mask.

  • One fourth cup of coffee powder
  • One yolk of an egg
  • Two tablespoons of olive oil (optional)
  • Mix both the ingredients well
  • Apply the mask evenly from the scalp to the tips of your hair
  • Gently massage the scalp for two minutes
  • After about forty five minutes, wash off the mask with lukewarm water

8. Mustard Hair Mask:


This mask helps boost blood circulation in the scalp, thus fostering the growth of healthy hair. Since this mask generates a lot of heat, be very careful to concentrate the product only on the scalp, and remove it after a few minutes

  • One tablespoon of mustard powder
  • Two to three tablespoons of lukewarm water
  • One egg
  • Three tablespoons of olive oil
  • Mix the mustard powder with lukewarm water to obtain a paste
  • Combine the paste with the remaining ingredients, until it forms a smooth paste
  • Apply the mask only to the roots of your hair. You can apply your regular oil (olive, coconut or almond) to the lengths of your hair
  • After about three to five minutes, wash off the mask. Repeat this process once a week
